Why they reached out to us
Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is an international humanitarian organization. At the start of a pivotal year, they needed to strengthen the bonds between their different internal teams (Face-to-Face, International Mobile Staff, Headquarters Staff), who, despite working under the same organization, sometimes struggle to find dedicated spaces for connection and mutual understanding.
Having already partnered with Bold Stories on several initiatives, MSF once again chose our model to deliver an experience that could bring people closer together, leveraging the power of storytelling.
Experience highlights
To achieve this ambitious goal, we designed a series of 3 workshops for 3 mixed teams made up of members from different internal populations. These teams were able to experience firsthand the power of storytelling to foster deep and meaningful relationships.
Focusing on three key areas – Identity, Relationships, and Narrative – we guided participants in discovering their Bold Character and their talents. We then explored how these Characters relate to each other and how solid bonds can be built through listening and respecting each person’s authenticity.
Participants were then invited to express themselves by creating stories (both written and oral), experiencing directly how storytelling can become a tool not only for communication but also for self-discovery, learning, and personal growth.
Results
MSF participants responded enthusiastically to the training, reporting they had formed new bonds and identified common ground with colleagues they hadn’t noticed before. The “pop” approach, using stories from Cinema & TV Series, helped suspend judgment, encouraged active participation, and enabled deep connections in an open environment where authenticity and courage were fostered.
The project leads successfully met their goal, paving the way for upcoming initiatives planned for the year.
